University of the Pacific

My alma mater turned first employer, University of the Pacific. From my years as a student to an alum returning to campus as staff, I’ve had quite a lot of opportunities to create art and content. From writing and website editing to content migrations and content production, I’ve had a hand in a lot of different media of marketing at Pacific. Here’s some areas that I am proud to say I played a part in developing and creating over the past few years.

University Website

The biggest thing I am proud to have contributed to was the official university website. I joined as full-time staff just after the university completely redesigned the website, moving from one content management system to another in the process. My part to play in this redesign effort included maintaining the design and structure of individual pages, while also assisting in the creation and management of other pages that have yet to have been created. Recently, I’ve begun to look into analytics and testing with SEO and CRO.

Social Media

In my involvement in two different departments, both as a student and as staff, I was also able to offer help in our social media content and strategy efforts. I’ve had the opportunity to work with each of their channels, from Instagram and Facebook to Twitter and LinkedIn. One big project that I was able to be a part of was our #PacificUnwrapped social media project. See the project details here.

Digital/Graphic Design

Since my roles at Pacific weren’t specifically design-oriented, I did not have a lot of opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience. However, the few projects in which I was able to offer help definitely brought me new knowledge and skills. My HTML and CSS experience was developed through a sub-blog redesign in which I was the main designer. My print layout skills were put to the test with handouts made for a summer program.

Videography

My involvement with the social media team allowed me to collaborate with them on videos and video content for the different university channels. I was able to have a hand in creating, producing, and editing different short-form videos for YouTube and Instagram reels, for example.
